Do you suffer from runner's knee?

Do you train for running and get pain especially when you run? Are you experiencing a sharp pain on the outside of your knee? Then there is a high risk that you have suffered from runner's knee - even if the symptoms occur with other forms of exercise.

However, what characterizes running is also what usually leads to the agonizing problem: long-term, monotonous loading that causes a broad and strong connective tissue band to abrade and chafe against the external structures of the knee joint.

The good news is that the pain can be reduced and treated with offloading the knee, stretching the ligament, and more gentle exercise that doesn't overstress it.

Our knee braces provide support and can benefit recovery as they are designed to support the knee joint and promote blood circulation in the area. They surround the knee and give an increased feeling of carrying capacity and stability.

The materials are elastic with varying degrees of stability and contain our textile technology Welltex®. This means that minerals are permanently found melted in the components of the textile material. The minerals absorb and re-emit body heat in the form of infrared energy (FIR), which can have positive effects on biological tissues and is experienced as soothing and/or warming. Some knee braces also include extra supporting elements.

'Knee Brace with Strap' is one of Back on Track's very first products. It is held firmly in place by an adjustable, elastic band with Velcro closure and has a flexible, supportive splint on either side of the knee. This functional and easy-to-use knee brace has been sold for over two decades with undiminished demand, without any change in either design or function. Now our range has been broadened and includes both smoother and stronger versions.

"Knee Brace - Physio 4-way Stretch" is, for example, so thin that it can be worn under clothes. The sturdy "Knee Brace - Per4mance" has an anatomical fit and is stabilized by CR rubber. Unlike the more flexible protectors, it is made of a softer and stronger material that holds tightly around the knee.

In short: Materials, design and technology work together to provide the best possible conditions for a quick recovery.

Runner's knee can have several different causes
The pain that occurs on the outside of the knee should be listened to. It means that the iliotibial band is exposed to more than it can handle - and that continued stress will make things worse. However, the causes of the condition can vary, and to prevent the pain from returning, you should try to find and remedy them.

The problem that causes runner's knee can occur far from the place where the typical symptom manifests itself. The iliotibial band, for example, runs from the hip down along the entire outside of the thigh. A misalignment in the hip can propagate through the tissues and manifest as a tight, chafing iliotibial band—right there, on the outside of the knee.

Those who train too intensively can overexert connective tissue, tendons and ligaments that have not had time to build up at the same rate as the muscles. As the muscles become stronger, the demands on surrounding tissue structures increase rapidly. There is an imbalance between the strong muscles and their lack of support; the joints become unstable and unevenly loaded.

Experience the effect of FIR
Our knee braces with Welltex® can benefit blood flow and provide a pleasant feeling of reduced tension in tendons and muscles - while providing firmness, support and relief. They can therefore be very helpful during rehab and during rehab exercises.

Our thinner versions are also flexible and comfortable enough to be worn at night.

With such knee protection, the recovery period can hopefully be shortened, so you can soon be running again - without runner's knee!
