Technology in Every Fibre
Back on Track products aren’t just about comfort, they’re designed with smart textile technologies like Welltex®, Haematex®, and Iontex®. These fabrics have mineral particles fused into the fibres, which absorb and reflect body heat as far-infrared energy (FIR). This gentle, natural energy can support circulation, ease stiffness, and help with recovery in people, horses, and pets. The best part? These minerals are woven right into the material, so no matter how often you wash them, the minerals cannot be washed out and the therapeutic benefits maintain the same level of effect.
Why Washing Matters
Even though Back on Track’s textile technology is built to last, clean fabric simply works better. Dirt, sweat, and dust can settle between the fibres, creating a barrier that reduces how effectively the material can reflect far-infrared energy back into the body. By keeping your gear clean, you ensure the fabric can stay in direct contact with the skin or coat, allowing it to deliver its full therapeutic benefits. Regular washing also helps the material retain its shape, softness, and flexibility, so it continues to provide consistent support and comfort over time.
Everyday Care for Welltex®, Haematex®, and Iontex®
Wash your Back on Track items in cool-warm water using a mild, enzyme-free detergent. Be sure to avoid bleach and fabric softeners, as these can weaken the fabric’s structure and lessen the effectiveness of the minerals. To help maintain the appearance and longevity of your garments, turn them inside out before washing and group similar colours together. Air drying is the preferred method to preserve the fabric’s integrity, and knitted items like socks or gloves will hold their shape best when laid flat to dry. Once fully dry, store your clean garments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to help maintain their performance over time.
Extra Steps for Clips, Buckles and Velcro
Before putting items with buckles, velcro straps, or clips into the wash, it’s best to fasten all buckles and close all straps. This prevents them from catching on the fabric or other items in the wash, which can cause unnecessary wear or damage. For even better protection, place these products inside a laundry or washing bag before washing.
How Heat Affects Fabric Performance
Avoid exposing Back on Track products to heat, such as tumble drying or ironing, as this can damage the fibers and minerals, causing hard spots in the fabric that reduce flexibility, comfort, and therapeutic effectiveness.
Caring for Cool on Track® Products
Cool on Track® products should be hand washed in cool water using a mild detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners and tumble drying. After washing, gently squeeze out excess water and allow them to air dry completely. When drying, lay them out in the shape you plan to store them to prevent bending or folding when dried, which can cause damage. If you use these products frequently, you can store them damp in their original bag to keep them ready for the next use. Just be sure to fully rehydrate before each use.
The Benefits of Proper Care
By giving your Back on Track products the right care, you not only maintain their cleanliness but also protect your investment. Whether it’s a pair of leggings, a mesh rug, or your dog’s cooling coat, proper washing and storage ensure the fabrics remain comfortable and effective for years to come. Clean gear doesn’t just look and feel better; it works better too.
